Location and Travel to Montasola

Rome is served by two major airports, Fiumicino and Ciampino. If you are collecting a hire car at either airport, you need to drive firstly to join the GRA, the ring road around the city. You then follow signs to Firenze, and this will take you away from Rome on autostrada A1. You leave the autostrada at junction Ponzano-Romano-Soratte, and then drive through the countryside to reach Montasola. As you drive up the hill towards Montasola, you reach the hamlet of Forcella where the house is located. Depending on traffic the journey takes from one and a half to two hours from either airport.

If you are driving from any other part of Italy, use the autostrada network to reach the same junction on autostrada A1. It is helpful if you have change to pay the toll when you exit the autostrada.

Whilst we strongly advise guests to hire a car, it is possible to reach Sabina by train to Poggio Mirteto station, the nearest to Montasola. There is a direct train from Fiumicino, but from Ciampino you will have to use bus and metro, or taxi, to travel to Tuscalana station in Rome to catch the train. Trains do not run through the night, so if arriving late you will need to arrange overnight accommodation at the airport or in Rome. There is a bus service from Montasola to Poggio Mirteto, but there are only two busses a day, so without a car guests will be restricted.

Full details of travelling to the casa will be provided when a booking is confirmed.
